My body had always felt lopsided. My lower back and neck had hurt for many years. This past year, I was having a hard time walking my dog for long distances. And standing for a long time put pressure on my right side. Though I knew about chiropractic care, going to one was not easy because of the pain many of my friends experienced.
Then I got under NUCCA care seven months ago.
What can I say? A few weeks ago I walked 6 miles without back pain or foot pain. I can do more than I ever have. So my dog is very happy. Walking from the train station in Chicago to work is now effortless.

I had trouble sleeping because of restless legs and pain in the base of my neck. This lack of sleep resulted in tiredness throughout the day and at times falling asleep while driving. I was also beginning to experience sharp pains shooting from my shoulder to my wrist.
Then I got under NUCCA care.
Here it is, two months later and all my symptoms have cleared up and I now sleep peacefully.

I am almost 79 years old. When I was 10 days old, my parents were told I would not walk after age 30. I had my 1st hip replacement at age 39. I have been walking with some combination of 1 or 2 canes or crutches for 40 years, so you can see I am a rather unique case. I have had a total of 12 leg surgeries. My most recent surgery was to repair a break in the left thigh where the bone was paper thin. The surgeons at the world famous center of Central du Page—Rush Presbyterian, said there were only 4 sites in the world that could do this surgery and I was the worst they had ever seen. I also have more metal in my body than they have ever seen, and they did not expect their surgery to heal. It has healed way beyond their expectations. There have been many times throughout my life when I thought walking was “all over” for me, but God keeps leading me to new solutions. Dr. Schalow was one of those solutions. I have been seeing him for a little over 4 years. I now walk with 2 crutches, but can walk with one. I use 2 for maintaining a better balance and putting less stress on my back and hips. I still drive, and do some private violin teaching. Thank you Dr. Schalow for giving me another 4 years of independence and hopefully many, many more.

Before I started NUCCA care, my arm and hand would get numb and tingly, and I’d get a hitch in my lower back during my daily walk. Also at night my legs would be jumpy and restless.
Now, no more numbness or tingling in my arms! My back feels fine too. The restless legs are much improved!

I was experiencing pain, stiffness, and restriction in range of motion in my neck and upper shoulder areas even though I have had chiropractic treaments since early adulthood. As a professional, my 40+ hour per week office job further aggravated the discomfort. Now, after approximately four months of NUCCA care, I have sen a significant improvement in my neck head, and shoulder stiffness and discomfort. My roange of motion has improved as well. If I aggravate this area, the stiffness improves in 24-36 hours. with some additional exercising, my level of comfort allows me to experience a greater level of life.

I had not been to a Chiropractor in over a year for an adjustment and my symptoms, which had been managed by monthly treatments were now back with increased severity. These included stiffness and pain to the neck, back and arms. The pain in my arms would wake me up at night so I was not sleeping well. During the day I was lethargic and moody and my body seemed to ache all over. I met Dr Schalow at a Mount Olive Lutheran Church outreach event where he had a booth describing his Chiropractic technique.
Now, after being under NUCCA care for three months, I feel amazing! I sleep better and have more energy throughout the day. I used to need a nap in the afternoon just to get through and now I rarely need to do that. My overall mood is better too. I do not wake up in the middle of the night in pain and my daily aches and pains have greatly diminished. I am very happy I met Dr. Schalow and would recommend his NUCCA treatment to anyone.

My allergies were out of control, I was sore a lot, and my focus (attention deficit) was bad when I first started NUCCA care.

I was bent over and had great difficulty walking, and especially walking any distance. I felt stiff and hated to move because it hurt. A few months after my NUCCA correction, I'm still bent over, but I can move much more freely and with little or only occasional pain. My back feels much stronger and my mental attitude has improved greatly.

My life changed the day I heard Dr. Philip Schalow do a lecture-demonstration about the Alexander Technique at Rock Valley College last summer. What he did and how he did it mesmerized me. I remember driving home that day and wondering why I felt so good. The next week, I had my first office visit; x-rays were taken, and I had a "Table Turn." Again, I drove home feeling like a new woman!
Since then I have had a series of NUCCA treatments, and find that my scoliosis is gone, one leg is not longer than the other, and I don't need lifts in my shoes anymore.
I am so appreciative of his advice about getting out of bed, standing up, sitting down, walking, turning my head, staying balanced, etc.
I have been telling everyone how happy I am to be under Dr. Schalow's care and guidance, and some of my friends have also been going to him for treatment.

Our son has been a very active little boy since the day he was born. As he grew, impulsivity became more noticeable and affected his relationships and school. He had a very difficult time sitting still in school and focusing. He never really had one toy or activity that he loved more than others...he liked them all! Homework time was always a chore. We had him tested and were told that he would benefit from medication so we tried several of them. The impulsiveness and lack of focus improved, but our son's trademark ear-to-ear smile was gone. The night my pre-teen son laid down beside me and expressed how sad he was and how he didn't know why was the last day of medication for him. It was just not worth it.
A short time later we met Dr. Schalow and had marvelous results with the NUCCA procedure for both of us, so we decided to have him examine and treat our son. His misalignment was more than double mine! This is such a subtle thing...kind of hard to explain how he has improved. I would say the impulsivity has improved the most. His focus on tasks is much better and he is much more able to begin a long term task and see it through to completion.
As the pre-teen/teen years passed the maturity gap between him and his peers had seemed to widen...that has completely gone away. His relationships have improved. His self-confidence has risen and now he has a calm about him. He just seems to be more at peace with himself. He has just graduated from high school and is on the road to becoming a professional photographer. Now his focus has turned to the Navy with hopes of advancement as a Naval Photographer after which he plans to complete a Photography degree at Texas A&M University. I'd say his focus and ability to plan and carry out a project has definitely improved! Thank you Dr. Schalow!!

I had back surgery in August 2010 to fuse L4 & L5 in order to relieve severe leg and back pain. I had been seeing a traditional chiropractor for many years but even though I was going 3x/week, I had neck and back pain.
It has been six months since I started NUCCA care and am holding alignment for about a month at a time. I was diagnosed a year abo with Barrett's Esophagus. The yearly followup endoscopy shoed "no Barrett's" cells. I no longer feel the need to have my neck "cracked." Myposture is greatly improved. My clothes fit better.
I now have my husband and 2 sisters-in-law benefitting from Upper Cervical Care.

Eye pressure, poor eye sight, pain and difficulty hearing brought me to 1st Step Chiropractic in November, 2009. I've had these problems for about three years. Now, at the middle of January, 2010, I have decreased pain, my eye pressure is normal, my hearing is improving and I can move better too! Constantly wringing hands, severe headache, stabbing arm and shoulder pain have been with me for about six months. I tried massage, meditation and pain medications, all of which helped temporarily. For about six years, I have suffered with neck and shoulder discomfort, leg numbness, poor balance, fatigue and sinus drainage. This caused me to be depressed; I had to push myself to participate in life. I slept a lot.

After a minor car accident, I began having severe headaches, especially when moving or lifting things. As a nursing student, I couldn't move patients or do many of my duties. When I had the headaches, it even prevented sleep! I went to the ER, where they did a CT scan and a lumbar puncture and found nothing wrong. I was told to take Tylenol.

I had vertigo. My right arm and hand would get numb, I would also have a tight neck. I would bump up against things when shopping with my grand-daughter, like I was doing a "two-step". I was told to take Dramamine.

Rheumatoid arthritis for the past 16 years has given me stiffness and pain in all my joints. I've tried exercise and many, many medications. I started care at 1st Step Chiropractic in October, 2008. I have Myasthenia Gravis. For 15 years, my nerves did not make proper connections with my muscles. I started care at 1st Step Chiropractic in June, 2008. Now it's very clear that I am experiencing a decrease in the symptoms associated with myasthenia gravis. Other people notice these changes too. I had a series of neck injuries over the past three years that significantly changed my life. I also had a fresh injury to my low back, including pulled tendons. My entire adult life has been under chiropractic care, and I am 52 years old, but the care I was receiving was less-than-satisfactory. After witnessing the tenderness of Dr. Schalow's care with my friend, I knew I had found someone to help my own conditions. After the first gentle adjustment to my neck, I felt immediate relief in my lower back, which Dr. Schalow did not even touch. My neck had instant mobility, something I had not experienced in years. I was having difficulty walking more than a mile, numbness in my right leg and dropped foot syndrome. I experienced difficulty in writing due to numbness in the right arm and hand. This has been happening for a number of years. I sought help through a neurologist and acupuncturist without clear success. As a result of my atlas being adjusted, it has relieved some pressure on the nerves and muscles to my legs and arm. It has given relief that I didn't have before. I have even been able to eliminate medications prescribed by other doctors. I feel so much better.
Others have noticed that my arm doesn't jerk and my writing is more clear. My walking is straight and I can walk for longer periods of time without help.

I've had scoliosis all my life, but never suffered from it until I reached my 30's and my third child came along. At that point I began to experience lower back pain as well as pain and numbness in my neck, shoulders and arms. I had to find creative ways to get my tasks accomplished, such as vacuuming on my knees in order to avoid bending over to get under the furniture. I also found myself being short-tempered with my family. A family member recommended I try upper cervical chiropractic, and even found Dr. Schalow online for me! I began seeing Dr. Schalow in September, 2009, and began to experience relief immediately. In addition to diminished back pain, I am also seeing effects such as increased energy. Some things that I thought were just a part of life, such as stiffness in my hamstrings and "creaky" knees, have gone away as well. My kids have noticed that I'm not as inclined to be grumpy as before, since I'm not in discomfort all the time anymore. Upper cervical care has given me a level of relief that regular chiropractic simply couldn't achieve. I'm so glad to have found Dr. Schalow!
